Powers of Attorney & Advance Directives
If you become unable to make decisions, someone you trust needs legal authority to pay your bills, manage your property, and speak with your doctors. Without these documents, your family may have to ask a court to appoint a guardian.
Florida’s power of attorney statute is specific: the document must be signed in front of two witnesses and a notary, and certain powers (such as making gifts, changing beneficiaries, or creating or amending a trust) must be separately initialed to be effective. We draft documents that banks, title companies, and health care providers will accept.
